FUR KREWE, INC - Policies and Release of Liability

Pricing and Payment: Prices are non-negotiable and must be paid in full at time of pickup. We accept cash, checks & credit card payments on site as well as contactless payment methods such as PayPal.  A $35 NSF fee will be charged for returned checks.

The base pricing for all services will be updated annually. Initial price estimates for each appointment are based on the size of your pet, coat type, and condition, as well as cut style and detail. The finished grooming price is also based on the time it takes to complete the groom and may vary due to factors described in this agreement.

Prepaid Packages: Owner understands that prepaid PLaY-CaRe or Thera-Clean packages are non-refundable and expire 12 months from the date of purchase.

Cancellations / No-Show Policy: Your appointment is important to FUR KREWE, INC. It is reserved especially for your pet(s). We understand that sometimes schedule adjustments are necessary, therefore, we respectfully request at least 24-hours’ notice for cancellations. Please understand that when you forget or cancel your appointment without giving enough notice, we miss the opportunity to fill that appointment time, and clients on our waiting list miss the opportunity to receive services. Our appointments are confirmed 24 hours in advance because we know how easy it is to forget an appointment you may have booked months ago. Since the services are reserved specifically for your pet(s), we reserve the right to place a cancellation fee on your account and may require a deposit be made for any future appointments.

Cancellations without 24-hour notice are subject to a charge of 50% of the reserved service amount. Appointments made within the 24-hour period prior to the appointment that need to be canceled must provide a minimum of 4 hours’ notice. “NO CALL/NO SHOWS” are subject to a charge of 100% of the reserved service amount.

Pick-up: FUR KREWE, INC will contact you by phone call/email/text message to let you know that your pet is ready for pick-up. You may pick the pet up at your convenience; however, we reserve the right to charge an added fee if the pet needs a second bath due to delayed pick-up after notification of completion.

PLEASE do not show up before you are notified that your pet is finished being groomed. This makes your groomer and your pet feel rushed. When your dog sees, hears, or smells you we may not be able to finish the groom safely. Full groom charges will still apply if you show up before your dog is completed.

Closing: FUR KREWE, INC reserves the right to charge a late pick-up fee of $1 per minute for any pet(s) that is(are) not picked up by the closing time of 7:00 p.m. CST. Occasionally we may still be working on your pet at closing time, in which case the late pick-up fee will not apply.

Inclement Weather: The staff at FUR KREWE, INC will do our best to give all clients at least a two-hour notice if their appointment needs to be rescheduled due to severe weather. We do not follow any state or local closures, however some of our groomers and support staff do not live in Baton Rouge and if they feel it is unsafe for them to come to work, we may need to reschedule your appointment even if you feel that you could make it. If you know that you cannot make it to your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible. Our normal 24-hour cancellation policy does not apply where there is severe weather. We will respect anyone who requests to reschedule their appointment even if we have decided to remain open for that day. We will send out an email or text message to everyone in our database to announce closures and will try to keep our social media pages updated during any weather-related events.

Vaccinations: East Baton Rouge Parish requires all dogs to be vaccinated against rabies by a LICENSED VETERINARIAN at three (3) months of age initially, revaccinated one (1) year later and vaccinated either annually or triennially thereafter and registered with Animal Control and Rescue Center on an annual basis. For this reason, FUR KREWE, INC. requires all dogs entering our establishment to have a current rabies license. We also recommend that your pet has all other vaccinations that are recommended by your veterinarian. DHLPP, Canine Influenza, and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination are strongly recommended but we believe the decision to vaccinate is between an owner and their veterinarian. By signing this form Owner specifically represents to FUR KREWE, INC that the pet has not been exposed to rabies, distemper, parvovirus, or other contagious diseases within a thirty-day period prior to the appointment date and understands that there are risks associated with bringing their pet(s) to FUR KREWE, INC without being vaccinated. The Owner also understands that vaccination does not eliminate the risk of illness but is intended to minimize the effects if exposed to the disease. Owner hereby waives and releases FUR KREWE, INC, its employees, owners, and agents from all liability of any nature, for injury or damage which owners’ pet(s) may suffer because of lack of recommended vaccinations or exposure to unvaccinated animals. Owner also accepts full responsibility for any problems or illnesses this may cause for their pet(s).

Medical: If your pet has any medical problems (seizures, arthritis, collapsing trachea, etc.), please make us aware of them so that we can take the necessary steps to ensure your pet's comfort. Sometimes grooming can expose a pre-existing condition. We cannot diagnose such a condition but may recommend that you seek veterinary attention.

Elderly Dogs: Older dogs can be very fragile, and grooming can be an exhausting process for them. They often have difficulty standing, seeing, and hearing that requires a longer groom time with frequent breaks. If at any time we feel the grooming process is causing too much stress for your dog, we will stop what we are doing. The dog's overall health and stress level are considered during the entire groom process. Owners of elderly pets (approaching the end of life) need to know if in the event the pet passes on while in our care, our policy is to transport the pet to the Owner's vet (within 15 miles) where he/she will be held until the Owner can be reached by the Vet for further instructions. If the Owner’s vet is closed or outside of our transport distance, then we will transport to the nearest 24-hour facility. Trip charges will apply based on time/distance.

Although accidents are rare, there are risks when handling pets. FUR KREWE, INC will inform you of any incident that occurs or that we may notice. Your pet(s) safety and comfort are our number one priority.

Veterinary Liability and Care: Owner authorizes FUR KREWE, INC to obtain medical treatment for your pet if he/she appears ill, injured, or shows any other behavior that would suggest that dog(s) may need medical treatment including anesthesia. Owner agrees to be fully responsible for the cost of any such medical treatment and for the cost of any transportation for the purposes of such treatment. Owner gives permission to FUR KREWE, INC to use Owner’s vet or nearest 24-hour vet hospital for required treatment.

Biting: If your pet has any history of aggression or biting, we ask that you let us know before grooming. This will help prevent injury to us and to your pet. Should your pet display aggressive behavior towards our groomers, we will make all attempts to finish grooming your pet with an e-collar or a muzzle. Should your pet bite and break the skin of any of our staff, a $25 fee will be added to your bill. If your pet continues to display aggressive behavior and our groomer is unable to complete your appointment, you will be charged based on the amount of time spent trying to groom them. The safety of our staff is our priority, and each groomer has the right to refuse any pet displaying aggressive behavior.

Fearful Behavior: If your dog is extremely fearful of grooming, we will do our best to go slow and make the process less stressful for him or her. However, it will require more of our groomer’s time, and there may be extra charges. Occasionally, we may suggest that the grooming be broken up into multiple sessions. We will provide options to help your pet learn that being groomed is not something they should fear. In very extreme cases, we may suggest that you consult with your veterinarian for pre-appointment medication options or suggest working with a private trainer to modify your dog’s behavior.

Fleas/Ticks: If you know that your pet has fleas/ticks, please let us know prior to your appointment. If we find fleas during grooming, we will administer a single dose of imidacloprid tablets according to their weight and bathe the dog with a therapeutic flea shampoo. The added charge for this service is $15. The tablet will start to kill the adult fleas on your pet after 30 minutes but will not prevent any future fleas or flea eggs from hatching once your pet leaves the salon. The flea bath will kill any current fleas on your pet but will not prevent future fleas or flea eggs from hatching once your pet leaves the salon. There is also an added charge for tick removal.

FUR KREWE, INC reserves the right to refuse service to customers whose pets may pose a threat to our employees and other pets left in our care, whether it is aggression problems, health problems or parasite problems.

Matting and Shave-Downs: There are extra charges if the matting is significant ($15 for the first 10 minutes and $1 for every minute after - up to 1 hour). If your pet is matted, this is a health crisis. If possible, we will de-mat your pet, but to prevent any discomfort and/or pain to your pet, your groomer may feel it necessary to shave your pet if severely matted. You will be contacted to approve any significant increase in cost or shaving of your pet. Post-shave effects are temporarily unattractive, unpleasant, and uncomfortable. But your pet will be starting the process to re-gain healthier skin and coat. Shaving a pet often exposes pre-existing skin conditions or sores and may cut or irritate the skin. We do not pay vet bills for eye irritations, skin rashes, cuts, skin irritations, repairing broken skin due to scratching, licking, chewing, or pets that shiver/hide. These are common responses to shave downs. While the groomer will employ the greatest care to avoid such events, they can and do occasionally occur.

Duration of Service: We offer a low-stress grooming environment without the noise and chaos of crowded, high volume pet salons. Fur Krewe’s groomers focus on your pet’s individual needs to complete the grooming process at a comfortable pace. We have many pets who come to us because they have difficulty with the grooming process or the long confinement times that are normal in other grooming salons. We love being able to give all dogs the exceptional care that they need to get through grooming comfortably, especially dogs who show some fear or discomfort about being groomed. Over time, as they accumulate more positive experiences in our salon, they become less anxious and easier to groom.

Special Handling: Special handling fees may occasionally become necessary, as we are dealing with animals. Circumstances when FUR KREWE, INC must charge added fees could be with in-tact males, a puppy’s first grooming, aggressive behavior, females in heat, unexpected illness, conditions discovered during grooming that require a trip to the veterinarian, or other conditions that require added labor. We will always notify our clients when Special Handling fees are needed.

Photo and Video: We love to post pictures and videos on social media, our website, and/or in print ads. Owner agrees to allow FUR KREWE, INC to use pet’s name and any images or videos or likeness of pet(s) taken while he/she is in the care of FUR KREWE, INC in any form, for use at any time, in any media, marketing, advertising, illustration, trade or promotional materials without compensation, and Owner releases to FUR KREWE, INC all rights that Owner may have or claim to such image, likeness, recording, etc.

Release of Liability: Owner understands and agrees that during normal dog play, Owner’s dog may sustain injuries. Dog play is monitored by FUR KREWE, INC staff to best avoid injury, but scratches, punctures, torn ligaments, and other injuries may occur despite the best supervision. Owner further understands and agrees that neither FUR KREWE, INC nor any of its employees, staff, or volunteers will be liable for any illness, injury, death, and/or escape of Owner’s dog(s) provided that reasonable care and precautions are followed, and Owner hereby releases FUR KREWE, INC staff or volunteers of any liability of any kind whatsoever arising from or because of Owner’s dog(s) attending FUR KREWE, INC.

Satisfaction:Your satisfaction is important to us. If you are unhappy for any reason, and would like something adjusted, we will be happy to make any adjustments when you pick-up your pet from his/her appointment. We also understand that your pet is excited to see you when you pick them up, making it hard to evaluate the haircut. If, once you get home, you decide that you would like something adjusted, you must call us within 24 hours of picking them up from their appointment to make arrangements to get them in, otherwise a fee may apply.

Other Considerations: In order to keep a sanitary work environment, we ask that you walk your dog to relieve themselves prior to your appointment. A clean up fee of $5 may apply if it is a repetitive problem.

By proceeding you agree to this process of resolution.

If a medical emergency arises while a pet is at our facility or taking part in a service that we provide it is imperative that we are able to get them immediate medical treatment at the closest available facility. We will call ahead to the veterinary offices in closest proximity geographically to us to ensure they can handle the emergency present. Your pet will be rushed to the closest available facility for treatment, and you will be notified. We notify the owner after we have secured a medical treatment center for the animal to avoid delays that may be caused by emotion on the part of the owner. Our goal is to get your pet medical attention as quickly as humanly possible, and any distractions may interfere with that process.

In case of a medical emergency that FUR KREWE INC, at its sole discretion, believes to need the immediate attention of a licensed veterinarian, I authorize FUR KREWE INC to seek medical attention at the closest available veterinary facility. I further agree that I am financially responsible for any medical treatment my pet(s) receives because of a medical emergency while attending services provided by FUR KREWE INC.

I represent that I am the legal owner of my pet(s) and I assume all risks, dangers, and responsibility for injuries to my pet(s). I understand and agree that I am solely responsible for any harm while my pet(s) is/are attending Daycare / Grooming at FUR KREWE, INC.

Owner hereby certifies that he/she has read and understands this Waiver and Release of Liability and the regulations set forth above. This Agreement shall remain in full force and effect as between the parties until and unless otherwise canceled or superseded by a writing signed by the parties. By signing this agreement, Owner agrees to be bound by its terms and conditions.
